Ink Washed Printed Papers 07/18/13

Ink Washed Printed Papers
by Thrifty Stamper
Thrifty Stamper here with this week's money saving/penny pinching idea.
I like to trade for printed papers. I haven't outright purchased any printed paper in the 10 years since my daughter started teaching classes. I trade items for printed papers. I bet you have a stash of printed papers that you have collected over the years. I have found that many stampers/crafters do this with embellishments, papers, cloth, and ribbon.
Stampers/crafters are always looking for something new. With that in mind I started a swap with my church friends.
Each participant brings a box of crafting items we have not used in over 3 years. It does not matter what the value of the items in the box are. Since they haven't used the items in 3 years the value to them is very little.
Last time I collected clean used popsicle sticks, oleo tubs with lids, post its that I bought at garage sales, spray paint in black, gold, silver and copper all found at garage sales, old stamp sets I got for free for being a home party hostess, and ribbon and yarn bits I had found at garage sales. Total value of the box(to me) was under $10.
I traded for 17 pads of "oh that's super old and not in style any more" printed papers, clean used meat trays, boxes of new zipper type baggies in many sizes, 6 punches -"oh those are so old! Why would you want them?" and a box of embroidery floss. I think I got the better end of the deal.
You may want to try a 3 year old swap with some of your friends!
