Shredded Paper Flocking

by Thrifty Stamper
I would like to thank Ginny M on the MFPaHC Tutorial Time team for this wonderful idea! She used a bigger size grater and got bigger "flakes" of paper that didn't clump and looked like leaves!
I decided to experiment with Ginny's idea and used the smallest grater I could find. I found that the smaller the grate holes, the fluffier the paper got as it was shredded.
This Betty Crocker food grater came from a dollar store called Dollar Tree. It has a small grater on top that acts as a lid to the container underneath. Great storage for your shredded paper flocking.
For this card you will need:
Stamp set: A Trip to Lancaster
ink-Black, dark gray/blue, brown, green
cardstocks for layers and base
Cardstock for the leaves-orange, red, green, brown
Elmer's Craft Bond
Twine
sponges
Markers-green, brown
Tear strips of the cardstock in the colors that you are going to use for the shredded paper flocking.
Accordion fold the cardstock to create a safe place to hold while grating.
Rub the cardstock back and forth over the grater. Dump grated paper into the container.
Next use the red cardstock in the same manner. You will not need as much red as the orange.
Move on to the green cardstock. Use less green than red.
Grate the brown the same as the green.
You should have a nice mix of colors.
Stamp you image in black. Use Elmer's Craft Bond around the inked areas at the top of the tree image and on the ground around the tree.
Gently lay the shredded paper flocking onto the glued areas. You should have more than you need. Press the flocking gently into the glue.
Let glue dry.
When glue is dry gently brush off excess shredded paper flocking.
Add color with markers, ink and a sponge.
Finished project.
